I know there has been a lot of debate here about if cargos are suitable attire to wear on the golf course but now i think some courses are taking notice to how they look. The golf club that i work at, Tedesco CC in Marblehead Ma, has just banned cargo shorts from being acceptable to wear on the course.

bogeyhitter25

Boy am I lucky that none of the courses out here have banned cargos. Yet that is. All I have for shorts are cargos and a few plaid shorts.

MrKadash

Have a few buddies that work at both private and public facilities here in mid-Michigan, and one that I know of have banned them. It was a private club, FWIW. I personally have a couple of cargo’s, but never have worn them on the course.

julius06

Typically I am very much against any type of censorship or excessive regulation, but I see the point with private clubs. You have to keep the people happy that pay the bills. If those happen to be the baby boomers with a more conservative view of what they want to see everyday around their course, then that’s what you cater too.

blue3715

yes my club banned them too. I have some ratty looking cargo shorts and some really really nice ones. I wore them by mistake and was told to change… basically any shorts with extra side pockets are not allowed. Glad i had an entra pair in my locker.

Klean

None in my area, and I don’t see why they would. Where would I put my extra balls!

I’m not aware of any courses in Oregon that have banned cargo shorts, although I’m sure there must be some. I’ve played two private country clubs in my area that state "shorts must be tailored (pockets and zippers)" I wore clean, ironed cargo shorts to both, and they were acceptable.
Oregon is a pretty casual state.
