I purchase a used set of M2 2017 TM irons with regular flex graphite shafts.When I removed the grips I found that the previous owner had cut these down an inch and added shaft extensions and cut them down a 1/2".So the 9,8,7,and 6 iron are a 1/2" shorter than standard.Would like to get them back to standard length.Would I have to drill the extensions out and put new ones in?Thanks for any help you can provide..

I have had great success step drilling them out. Before you get close to the ID of the shaft, the extension has heated up enough that the epoxy breaks down and it will spin or just pull out.

Great news.After removing the grips and tape I was able to remove the extensions with a small pair of vise grips.I was shocked.They did have some epoxy or weak glue on them.Just had to pull them in a couple of places and they came out.This made my day.Thanks guys for your advise.

Hi Joe..thanks for the reply….I know nothing about it actually…it is a tour vsteel..not sure of the specifics…could I bring it to any clubfitter to take a look at or would this be a project for those more experienced in the art. Thanks for your time.

Yes, it can be done, but you have to be careful applying heat to a graphite shaft. If it’s weak epoxy, I’ve had success applying a heat gun directly to the shaft, however, I do not advise this as it is easy to damage the shaft.
