May River at Palmetto Bluff is one of Jack Nicklaus’ best designs. It is in superb condition. The golf course as presented offers variety that one will not find in other golf courses. It is beautifully manicured and maintained.
How wide is the marsh at the 10th?
The tenth kicks off with a par 5 requiring a decision on the second shot depending on the wind. There is a marsh about 50 yards wide that one can either lay up and leave a shot of 180-160 yards to the green or try to clear the marsh with the second shot.
How to get there
Approx 20 miles north of Savannah, leave I-95 at exit 8 and follow Hwy 278 direction Hilton Head Island. After approx 8 miles turn right onto SC 170 (Okatie Hwy). After approx 4 miles at first stop sign turn left onto SC 46 (May River Road). After approx 2 miles the entrance to Palmetto Bluff will be on your right. Proceed to Welcome Gate.
